Comments: I was given a special ordering code that would cover the cost of one pair of jeans and shipping along with directions to place an order at the website where I found eleven styles including a capri (there's fifteen now and no capri). I was disappointed to see that not all sizes were immediately available in all styles. For instance one style only offered sizes 14 and 24 while another offered sizes 18 and 24. When I inquired I was told it was end of season and they were getting low on some styles but would be replenishing soon. Having a look at the website a few minutes ago the stock is still not offering the entire range of sizes in each style.
There were some ordering and stock issues when I placed my order so I wasn't able to get the jeans of my choice (Aiko bootcut). My contact insisted they were "freak occurrences" and after two substitutions I was told I was being sent the Eden jeans. She called them their "most figure flattering cuts" but also said they were a "REALLY old style" (they are no longer available online).
Immediate impressions: They are a beautiful looking jean with a lovely wash and back pocket embroidery. There is extra double stitching along the hip and the frontal thighs are faded. There is a very slight stretch (1% spandex). The product is stamped as made in China and designed in Canada.
I love the medium wash, the pocket embroidery, and the rise which is a tad below the belly button but above back of hips. In other words, I don't feel like my derriere is hanging out (but there is a bit of a gape when I kneel or bend). The Silver Jeans label is subtly embroidered into waistband so no worries of picking or extra piece of fabric falling off. The pocket placement is toward center instead of way out to sides like some large jeans. Having them closer together is definitely flattering.
I have large thighs and find the slim fit Eden too tight in this area. I also don't like the fading on the thighs as it makes me feel like there is a beacon highlighting them.
When I washed the jeans I didn't notice any bleeding in the water or heavy dye smell. Like most jeans they loosen up by the end of the day and snap back into place when washed. They are an o.k. jean but I think I might have liked the original Aiko boot cut better.
Overall, they seem to be a well made jean and the fact that they are available online makes them accessible.
Satisfaction: Average. Other than the ordering issues (which I have to give the benefit of the doubt for) I didn't find any real problem with the jeans and I will probably continue to make use of them. If you don't normally have problems finding an adequate fit jean then they are worth checking out for the look and convenience.
