Wear Candy Colors

We've all heard this before; black is slimming, black is the most flattering, and black is the new black. The idea that wearing black can help some people feel more comfortable is not entirely a myth. Many women feel better as long as they stay away from vibrant colors or colors altogether. The problem is that this mentality makes them miss out on fun trends and amazing looks.

Colors are very important, especially for making us feel ecstatic about the lovely weather after the darks and neutrals of the winter. Welcoming the summer breeze with a rainbow of colors in your wardrobe is bound to make you feel more alive. The key is to wear each color properly and know which colors can be mixed. Take a quick look at your wardrobe; is there a huge pile of black items and only a few colors hidden in a dark corner? Then this is the time to make a change.

First of all, there can be one or more colors taking over the fashion scene at any given time, but this does not mean you should wear no other colors. However, in honor of the two colors taking center stage now, let's start with white and red. White can take pages because it can win the award for most feared color (when not on a wedding dress). The key to wearing white correctly is choosing the right cut and fit for your body.

White trousers look great on women who are more top heavy and want a balance, and they also break the blue jeans rut. As for tops, unless you are really slim, flowing blouses and menswear inspired shirts look better. Just check how transparent anything in white really is under a very strong light before you go out.

Red is a lively color so trousers can look great in a pale shade, more on the rose blush side. It is one of those colors that instantly make you look pretty, especially if you have dark hair. The only color that does not go with it is green; otherwise you can wear it with any other color, including pink. Red and hot pink look amazing with black. For a hip unique look wear a neon pink top under a chic black blazer.

Daring bold colors like pop yellow and orange can also look fabulous when added to an outfit. The general rule is not to combine two or more very bold colors unless you can balance them with something else. Full color blocking is an on trend runway look. If you want to try it make sure the handbag, shoes, or accessories are black or in a very dark shade.

If you are a fan of colored accessories and shoes, try pumps in a candy color with a plain outfit to liven it up a la Olivia Palermo. Colorful accessories and scarves do wonders for an LBD or a stylish grey boyfriend blazer. Go for more colors and look cuter this minute!
