Two Lethal Lies

Hello, and welcome back! It's looking like a gorgeous weekend here, and I'm going to be off to enjoy it, though I'll be spending a good part of Saturday in a car traveling to a booksigning to visit with some writing friends. That's okay with me. I'll also get to meet some authors whose work I adore, including the author of the book I have to share with you this time out....

Annie Solomon's Two Lethal Lies (Grand Central, received from publisher) has Mitch Turner on his way through a small town in Tennessee with his daughter Julia when he stops to save a young girl. that sets in motion a chain of events that will turn his life upside-down. Neesy Brown has lived in Crossroads her entire life, and she knows she's made some bad choices in the process. But when Mitch comes to work at the diner where she waits tables, she finds it challenging not to make one more. Something about him piques her interest, even beyond the handsome man working the grill everyday for breakfast and lunch. But Mitch's good deed has also gotten the attention of someone who's been hunting him and his daughter for a long, long time, and that someone is intending to cause a lot more havoc in Mitch's life now, first by claiming Mitch's daughter and sending Mitch to jail. With a few lucky breaks, however, Mitch might be able to fight his way to a showdown and save not only Julia and Neesy, but himself. I've been a big Annie Solomon fan since the beginning, and I really enjoyed this book. It's a page-turner, with Mitch and his secrets, his young daughter who yearns for things she's never had, and Neesy, who'd like to keep them both. As a parent, there are parts of this one that are truly wrenching, but you'll keep reading as I did, knowing that in a romance, things will work out somehow, and Solomon works them out just beautifully. The villain is a twisted, evil man, and you'll be just as happy as I was when he's defeated. I'm borrowing four of Cupid's five arrows for this one. It's a fantastic addition to my growing Annie Solomon shelf.

Until next time, happy reading!
