A Christmas Waltz

Hello, and welcome back! We've reached the end of the month now, and I'm dying to dig into the November books, though I still have a couple of October romances to share with all of you. The November releases are stacking up here on my desk, and there are more than a few I'm looking forward to reading. Not that there haven't been amazing books in October as well.

This time out, I have the latest from Jane Goodger, A Christmas Waltz (Zebra, received from publisher). This is an author whose holiday stories I look forward to every single year. I just wish she were more prolific, as her stories are always terrific. In this one, Lady Amelia Wellesley has traveled on her own from England to a tiny, dusty Texas town to her 'fiance' Carson Kitteridge. Only she was expecting a ranch and not so much dirt. Everything Carson said to her was a lie, it seems, including that his brother Boone is not very bright. Indeed, Dr. Boone Kitteridge is the one to greet her and then to offer her a solution when Carson vanishes in the night. Amelia and Boone have nothing in common, and Boone knows he's not nearly as appealing as his brother, but he's fascinated by the lovely Englishwoman, and he'll do anything to have her. Except that he believes she's still in love with his brother, even after his own offer of marriage. Amelia is only just finding her way in her new life when violence ends the life of a friend, and Boone decides it's time she went home to England. His sacrifice, despite his feelings for her, make him all the more appealing. The previous books in this series have been delightful, so it's hard to say which is my favorite, though I'm leaning hard toward this one. Boone and Amelia are from completely different worlds and shouldn't have even a tiny chance of making a relationship or marriage succeed. But readers will be pulling for them from the start, as both are charming, and the story is so emotionally satisfying. I have adored Goodger for some time, and this book is just spectacular. I'm giving it five of Cupid's five arrows. Whether you're a fan of holiday stories or not, this is just plain one great romance.

Until next time, happy reading!
