Christmas Books

The Polar Express

One couldn't select a more delightful and exciting premise for a children's book than the tale of a young boy lying awake on Christmas Eve only to have Santa Claus sweep by and take him on a trip with other children to the North Pole.

The Shoe Box - A Christmas Story by Francine Rivers
I recommend "The Shoe box" as it is just as valuable for relaxing reading on any quiet afternoon, as it is for family reading on Christmas Eve.
Read my review.

Remember the Manger

An angel quietly leads children through the story of Jesus' birth, gently reminding them of God's great gift of love born on that wondrous night long ago.

At the Manger: The Stories of Those Who...
cover
This is a touching and imaginative novel about what it must have truly been like to witness the birth of Jesus Christ.

Bright Christmas : An Angel Remembers

A wise angel who has seen it all delivers an anecdotal account of the night that was "different from all the others," the night that "the great truth came to the earth once and for all."

Miracle of Christmas, The

cover
John MacArthur, gives us a true and biblical commentary on a Christian subject. A must read for believers and non-believers alike. Get both the historical and theological truths of the Christmas season. Discover that Christmas is not a holiday created by myth and tales but is historical documented as fact!

A Small Miracle

cover
What a wonderful, imaginative book! It is perfect for even quite young children to understand the Christmas message.

The Crippled Lamb

cover
The Crippled Lamb -- Because Joshua, a spotted lamb with a crippled leg, has to stay behind in the stable, he witnesses the birth of Jesus and provides warmth for the little baby.

The Nativity

cover
I read this book every year and read it to my grandchildren as often as I can. The lovely King James text might normally be a little over the heads of the 4 to 8 year olds this book is aimed at, but Julie Vivas' illustrations bring it to life and make it something any child will want to hear again and again and again.
