Diana Cooper, who is most well known for her work with the angelic kingdom, has a spiritual message for children – you are not alone, no matter how bad things may seem, and you are dearly loved, even at your worst.
The Magical Adventures of Tara and the Talking Kitten is a spiritual book for children with a loving message, told through the story of Tara, a somewhat difficult young girl, and her talking kitten, Ash-ting.
Tara is a pretty typical little girl. She has trouble getting along with her brother and sister, she gets into trouble at school, has a quick temper and a hard time making friends, and sometimes feels that no matter what, she can never seem to say the right thing.
Then one day a magical kitten enters her life. Tara and her new kitten, Ash-ting, have a deep, intuitive connection that helps Tara get through difficult moments. Ash-ting supports and encourages Tara, even when Tara is behaving at her very worst. Tara learns that when she pays attention to Ash-Ting’s guidance, via a psychic connection that Tara feels in her third eye area, things seem to go more smoothly.
One of the things I loved about this book is that after reading it, my daughter, who sometimes goes through the very things that Tara goes through, was open and receptive to the idea of a loving, supportive, tangible presence that encourages us and supports us just the way that Tara’s magical kitten supported Tara.
This book is recommended for children ages 4 – 8, but my tween aged daughter loved and appreciated it very much. Children as young as 4 years may not quite get the spiritual message offered, but they would enjoy the story of the talking kitten, and it would certainly be a good way to start them thinking about how spiritual guidance feels much like the guidance offered by Ash-ting the kitten.
There’s a little bit of Tara in all of us, and in The Magical Adventures of Tara and the Talking Kitten we are reminded that even at our worst, that guidance is always available to us, and we are always loved, supported and encouraged by a Source that sees past bad behavior and into a heart that longs to connect to others in loving service.
