Tarot for Yourself Book Review

One of my favorite books on the subject of Tarot is Tarot for Your Self: A Workbook for Personal Transformation, by Mary Greer. She offers a concise, but easy to use format of advice, information and techniques.

As far at content is concerned, it is suitable for beginners as well as advanced Tarot practitioners. I have found, through years of experience with Tarot, that there are always new things to learn about the subject.

She offers some fun and interesting layouts as well as chapters about how to find your soul and life purpose cards. I was actually really surprised when I found out which two cards matched my date of birth!

I also feel that Ms. Greer presents the subjects with humor, respect, and in a style that is down to earth and comfortable for the reader. By the time I finished reading the book I felt that she and I were old friends.

I loved her ideas about creating a Tarot journal as well. I have used many of her suggestions when creating my own unique reference guides. And, for the artists among us, she has a chapter on how to create your own Tarot deck.

I really like the idea of a Tarot workbook too. There are some very insightful exercises and assignments that open up whole new pathways of thought and intuition, both of which are vital to being able to give an accurate and thought provoking reading.

I found the chapter on the history of Tarot to be fascinating and I learned things that I had overlooked in my previous research. And, the chapters regarding meanings of numbers and how to determine time frames were very helpful and added a lot more perspective.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in learning more about the origins and history of Tarot, how to set up and maintain a Tarot journal, and how to do readings for oneself as well as for others. Tarot for Your Self has been an invaluable addition to my Tarot library. I use it quite often as a knowledgeable and easy to understand source of reference.
