Logitech Harmony One Universal Remote

It seems to me that every year my television watching is becoming more complex. First there is the television, then speakers are attached. We have a DVD player, a video player and a ROKU box from which we can play Amazon or Netflix instant downloads. With every addition comes a remote control or three and our living area was being bombarded with too many remotes that were rapidly becoming lost or damaged.

The obvious solution was a universal remote and we bought the Logitech Harmony One Universal Remote with Color Touchscreen. This has been a blessing, not only does it operate everything so easily that I can actually work out how to operate it, but it also comes with its own battery charger docking station, so we are no longer looking for batteries each time a remote control doesn’t work.

It was really easy to set up, with well-written software guiding every step, and live customer help available when needed. It works with old and new televisions and other electrical equipment. Up to 15 different devices can be programed into the remote control.

There is a little touch screen from which you can select the options you want to watch so you can work all the devices you want to watch from just one place, the buttons are backlit so you can even use it in the dark, in the middle of a movie without turning on the lights.

The true genius of this universal remote is that you don’t have to operate each device separately. You tell it you want to watch a DVD, for instance, and all the settings are correct for your DVD. The devices you need to use are switched on and the ones you don’t need to use are switched off. You wait a few seconds and then press play and your DVD is playing.

Because the remote has a docking station, it gets put back on the charger and therefore can be found more easily than other remotes that need to be found before watching television.
