This pyramid ornament is made very easily and quickly using tubular even count peyote. It gets it's triangular shape from the way it's closed and the size of the finished tube. It's zipped close so the top and bottom are perpendicular to each other like this.
Because of the ratio of height to width in a seed bead, you've noticed when you make an amulet bag that's 40 rows high by 40 columns wide, it will wind up being taller than it is wide. The pyramid shape needs to be a tube that is closer to squared. For size 11 seed beads, to make an ornament the size in my photo, it turned out that 15 rows high by 20 columns was the right size. Double the columns to work the round winds up being 15 rows x 40 columns.
This one has a 12 mm jingle bell in it so it rings when tapped.
For this project you'll need:
Size 11 seed beads- I used Japanese seed beads in White Ceylon and Silver Lined Red
Thread- I recommend a strong one so the ornament will last years. I used SoNo.

Work the pattern like you would a tubular peyote amulet bag. When you've finished, zip up the bottom without adding any extra rows. Usually I'll use an extra row on an amulet bag so it lies right, but since this is dimensional, it's better not to add those rows. After you've zipped up the bottom row, put the bell in the bag, and zip up the top row. Because of the size, it's self-supporting.I've marked the beads to start the zip on.
The last bead you come out of when you zip up the opposite side is where it hangs from. Add a loop of beads to that, using any accents you'd like to use. Of course, you can flip it and add the hanging loop centered on the top triangle then have a dangle coming down from the point.
Here's a blank graph to make your own. Because the triangles go in different directions and angles, pictorial designs are a bit harder for this pattern, geometric patterns look great though!
So you can see how it goes together without doing the beading, I made a paper version. Tape or glue the blank tab inside the opposite side to form a tube, and then tape the top tabs closed. The lines will match up so you can put them on the outside. Print this out at 100 ppi on plain paper. This will make a regular tube, I angled the lines so it looked better printed out with the seam on an edge rather than running up the middle of one of the triangles. The 4 equilateral triangles make 2 squares.
