Drop Dead Diva is now in its third season and continues to be a success. This is a show about a woman named Jane. Jane is a successful, kind, and intelligent lawyer who happens to also be Deb, a thin model who has been reincarnated inside of her. Although Jane is extremely smart, she is also overweight. Deb has difficulty adjusting to both of these attributes and the series follows her "trials" (pun intended) as she struggles to begin a new life for herself.
Viewers cannot help but love and relate to the character of Jane. Jane (Deb) is in love with Deb's fiancé who has no idea of who she really is. Also, Jane is viewed as a more relatable character because of her size. These characteristics tend to draw the viewers in as they can sympathize with the character more easily.
Jane, although overweight, has had numerous relationships with handsome men. This allows viewers in similar situations to view their lives in a more positive light and possibly, give them hope that not all is lost. One does not look at Jane and see someone who the world would normally not look twice at. Jane is an energetic, beautiful woman who is witty and funny. Deb and Jane seem to offer the perfect combination to form a realistic woman that viewers can relate to and enjoy.
At the end of season two, viewers hearts broke alone with Jane, when the man she is in love with, Grayson, asks her to be his "best woman" in his wedding with someone else. However, season three brings new hope for Jane and viewers are keeping their fingers crossed.
Another exciting aspect of this show, are the trials that Jane has as a lawyer. It is interesting to watch Jane work herself through the case and come out triumphant each time.
The only negative aspect of this show is the random dreams that Jane has. These dreams often are in the format of a musical and usually contain another random notable character. Thankfully, these scenes are far and in between as they add an unrealistic view to the show and often seem pointless to the plot.
All in all, this is a must see show! The characters are funny and lovable. Viewers are not left disappointed!
