The article The Hot List is one of the best articles Golf Digest puts out each year. It covers the best equipment coming out in 2011 and tested by a full set of Scientist, retailers and players. It also list the best100 places in the country to find club fitters for a golfer can go to be fitted properly to your golf clubs. In five different section of the country you can find a facility that can fit clubs to you personally. Wherever you live and you want to be properly fitted check out to fine one of these 100 that would be close to where you live.
What interested me was the testers group called The Team of 6 scientist, 8 retailers and 20 players from all parts of the country. These people spent three days of constantly trying out the new clubs from golf manufacturers. If anyone is interested in wanting to apply to be one of the testers, you can apply as on the section on Fairway woods is a section that says “want to become one of your next hot list testers?” This is where you will find out what you have to do to spend three days of testing new golf equipment.
In this group of testers I found two from Texas, Ricky Brown from Fort Worth and Deb Sanders from Houston and the only woman. It was interesting to see where they were from and what kind of job they had and what their handicap was. Great group and before you turn to what was the outcome on all the clubs there was the Editor’s choice. Callaway Razr X as best irons, Taylor Made R11, Adams Idea Tech V8 – Irons with brains and looks, Titlist 910F a wood for players and wannabes, these were picked by four Editors of Golf Digest.
Following pages were listed as gold and silver picks in Drivers, then listed were Fairway Woods in gold and silver picks, the Hybrid were also list in gold and silver picks. The list of Irons went on for pages in the different irons graded in gold and silver with a separate section on wedges. Finally the putter took up several pages from mallet putters to blade putters. This section had interesting side inserts with inserts of tips, head cover remarks, driver or three wood off the tee, fairway woods or hybrids, plus many other suggestions you could use in your golf game. One that said Hybrids go from fad to must have. I sure could agree with that as I have discarded my fairway woods and use all three hybrids and they are working just fine. Get the February issue of Golf Digest if you are thinking of new clubs you can also find a place to get proper fitting of those new clubs so check out this issue of Golf Digest.
