An Elegant Wedding Style

After you have found the perfect wedding dress, and the perfect veil to go with it, the challenge is to create a bridal hairstyle to compliment the overall picture. Be sure to arrange one or two appointments with your hairdresser, well in advance of the wedding day, for practice runs. Once you and your hairdresser are confident about how your hair should be styled, you can relax and know that your wedding day look will be picture perfect.

This veil is attached to a beautiful crown of lace and pearls. The hair is styled to complete the effect. First, all the hair is back-combed, brushed smoothly and pinned high on the head. The bangs are styled into place and any hair that is too short to stay up comfortably is curled into tendrils. The crown is then placed on the head with the remaining hair pulled through the opening. After making sure that the headpiece is secure, small pieces of hair are curled and placed. Some curls may be pinned into place while others are secured with hairspray. Curls are moved and replaced until the overall effect is achieved. The hairstyle and veil become one to form a lovely frame for the bride’s face.

This elegant updo is sophisticated and softly feminine. By replacing the headpiece and veil with a thin crown or band made of pearls, rhinestones or ribbon, it can be just as effective for a bridesmaid as it is for a bride.

To create this style:

An important part of this elegant hairstyle is the soft tendrils falling gracefully at the neckline. To create this soft look, pull out a strand of hair at each ear and a few strands across the back of the style. Curl them into soft tendrils.

The wedding headpiece or other ornamentation is put in place at this time - before the style is completed. It should fit around your head, just behind your bangs and over the bobby pins. Anchor it in position, using bobby pins for extra firmness. Pull the hair up through the top and begin to create the curls, one by one. Form the curls to fit around the crown or ornamentation.

For all day hold, spray each curl, including the tendrils, with a firm hold hairspray. Top off this beautiful hairstyle with a spritz of spray shine for the perfect finish.
