Baby Society Finches - Watch Them Grow

Recently we had some Society Finches hatch and I’ve been taking pictures every day to show the progress. It has been fascinating to watch them grow from the egg – to the squirming little pink hatchling – to a feathered wonder. I thought you might want to see it all too.

Here we see the first few days, starting from when 2 hatched one day & then two more the next day. We can also see that they are definitely growing each day.

Again, each day, we can see them growing and already some wing feathers and tail feathers are starting to show.

They continue their growth spurt as they are now about 2 weeks old and one picture I was lucky enough to get them all with their mouths open. Thats Daddy sitting in the nest with them on the last picture in this row.

The feathers are really showing as they approach 3 weeks old and they are just about ready to start coming out of their nest. There isn’t much spare room to move in the nest now.

This is what we’ve been waiting for. Each baby comes out for a look around. They are adorable little birds. Watching these little birds grow up has been an amazing experience.

Take the Canary & Finch Quiz to see how much you know about these birds.

Here is an e-book I’ve written that is devoted to Zebra and Society Finches
