Donovan Releases Song, 2010 Shows Planned

Donovan isn’t officially on tour this year, but he does have a steady stream of shows coming up this year. He has also released a new song, a tune he composed to put the Robert Burns poem “The Banks O’Doon” to music. The song is available on iTunes and is meant to attract attention to a threat to Scotland’s River Doon, currently threatened by the plans of a power company.

On March 19, 2010, Donovan will perform in L.A. at the El Rey Theater. The concert is a benefit for the David Lynch Foundation. Donovan will appear with his back-up band and with his daughter Astrella Celeste.

In May, 2010, Donovan will be playing in Britain’s three-day Acoustic Festival. Donovan, joined by a bunch of performers who aren’t Donovan, will be playing acoustic music in Staffordshire. Attendees can camp out during the three-day weekend, sleeping in yurts, teepees or in campers. The festival will feature “Posh Loos”! (They actually do look pretty posh.)

On August 7, 2010, Donovan will be in France for the Festival du Bout du Monde. The festival takes place in Brittany, and 60,000 people are expected to attend the festival to see performers from around the world.

On September 5, 2010, Donovan will play the Moseley Folk Festival in Birmingham, England. The festival is a three-day event held in an 11-acre park near the center of Birmingham.
