If you're looking to eat healthy, I highly recommend getting spinach into your diet. This TastyBite Kashmir spinach meal doesn't require fridge or freezer space for storage, heats up in 90 seconds and is rather tasty!
Really, this is spinach saag or palak paneer depending on which language you want to use to describe it. The mix is all vegetarian (as you might suppose) and all natural. There are no preservatives, no MSG and it's gluten free.
There are 8g total fat, with 3g saturated. 8g carbs, minus 3g of dietary fiber means 5g of net carbs. That being said, they claim this package makes two servings. You would have to be eating just a small amount of this with a full lunch or dinner to have this fill you up! I think it's wiser to say you're going to eat the entire thing and have 10g of net carbs - which is still really good.
There is 690mg of sodium - so do keep an eye on that.
It's very nutritious! You get 44% of your vitamins A, 16% of your iron and 14% of your calcium. Spinach is good for you!!
Cooking is easy - just microwave for 90 seconds and eat!
I've tried MANY spinach frozen meals over the years and often they can taste really metallic or the texture can end up soggy. I was very impressed with this TastyBite version. The saag was fresh and had a good texture. The flavor was not metallic, and was rather tasty!
I have to caveat it is still not as good as the actual saag made by my local Indian restaurants. I'm not sure exactly what the restaurants are doing that none of these frozen food / prepared food companies can manage to duplicate. Still, this is reasonably tasty and would definitely make a good alternative for times I can't run out to the Indian restaurant.
I really have to give these guys kudos for having such a nutritious dish, with no preservatives, in such a quick, easy to use format. It is tasty and definitely is something I'll keep on my shelves. Well recommended. If you think you don't like spinach, give this a try. Spinach is VERY good for you and should be something you get into your weekly meal plan!
