Valentine´s Day Weddings

By: Jennifer Mark

Valentine’s Day, the most romantic day of the year,
makes the perfect wedding date for the die-hard
romantic. Here are some tips and ideas to help you
create your Valentine’s Day Dream Wedding!

Begin with a romantic invitation. Small dried or
silk, red roses tied with a white bow make a unique
invitation. For the more traditional bride, you can
never go wrong with gold or silver embossed hearts,
cupids or dove designs. But if you’re the flirty,
playful type bride, spice up your invitation with love
in every language! For example, Agapo (Greek), Amor
(Spanish), Elske (Danish), Liefde (German), Amour
(French), and of course, Love; experiment with
different styles or writing for more creativity! The
possibilities are endless with invitations.

Attire for your V-day wedding can be soft and
innocent to sexy and daring! A romantic, white dress
with a corset top and a full skirt lightly accented
with pearls. Some dresses nowadays have colored
embroidered flowers that can spice up a simple gown.
Dress up your hair with white or pink roses, you can
have your hair stylist add these in during your up-do,
or simply decorate your headpiece/veil with floral
accents. Grooms can wear a traditional white tuxedo
with a double rose boutonniere in white and pink to
color coordinate with the bride. A soft pink A-Line
style for the bridesmaid dresses in a flowing chiffon
material works nicely with any style of bridal gown. A
tip: Bridesmaids appreciate these styles of dresses,
as they can wear them for more then just one occasion!
For groomsmen, stick with the colors of the wedding
and opt for white tuxedos. For all you bold brides
that want to make a statement, make an entrance in an
all red, silk gown! Grooms can wear black tuxes with
red waistcoats and red boutonnieres.

Pick your wedding cake style! Heart shaped layers
decorated with fresh red roses and fresh strawberries
make for a picture perfect cake. Dreamy tiered cakes
with cascading water fountains give a Cinderella
fantasy effect. For something bolder, you can even go
with a chocolate cake in the shape of gift boxes, with
chocolate icing and fresh floral. Use your imagination
ladies, whatever you can dream of, it can come true!

Decorations, Favors and Music! This is where you can
have some fun and be creative. Have a ceremony by
candlelight. Place large candles on tall stands,
evenly spaced along the aisle. Use lanterns for an old
fashioned touch. For a candlelit reception, an
inexpensive option for table centerpieces is to fill
glass containers with water and place floating candles
in them. Surround the containers with floral garlands
that match your colors. For Valentine’s Day, choose
reds pinks and whites. Thank your guests with V-Day
theme favors! Chocolates in a heart-shaped gift box,
Candy Conversation Heart favors wrapped in tulle with
a red ribbon, Champagne Glass Bubbles, or even a
personalized Valentine’s Day card for each of your
guests, although this can be time consuming! Last but
not least, what Valentine’s Day reception would be
complete without a selection of romantic love songs to
set the mood? Recommended love songs include:
Amazed-Lonestar (Couple’s First Dance), Wonderful
Tonight-Eric Clapton (Couple’s First Dance or
Father/Daughter Dance), What A Wonderful World-Louis
Armstrong (Father/Daughter Dance, Mother/Son Dance)
and of course, Martina McBride’s “Valentine” is a
perfect choice for the occasion!
