Sweet Potato Biscuits


Breads are an important part of any meal, especially a Soulfood meal. Try this recipe for Sweet Potato Biscuits.
To make this bread recipe you will need the following:

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon of salt
1 cup of mashed sweet potatoes
2 tablespoons firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup Butter Flavor Crisco, melted
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cup of buttermilk

Make your bread:
Heat oven to 425 degrees F. Combine flour, baking powder & salt in a large bowl.
Combine sweet potato, brown sugar & Crisco. Beat at low speed w/an electric mixer until well blended and fluffy in texture.
Dissolve baking soda in buttermilk. Stir buttermilk & sweet potato mixture alternately into dry ingredients.
Roll dough 1/-inch thick. Cut with floured 2-inch round cutter. Place on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake @425 degrees F for 15-20 minutes
Recipe makes 12 to 16 biscuits
