National Women's History Project

The Library Sciences site for March celebrates women's history.

National Women's History Project focuses on recognizing the accomplishments of women. This non-profit organization provides educational materials and sponsors programs. There is an expanding biography center.

The 2009 theme is "Women Taking the Lead to Save the Planet." The plan is to feature Rachel Carson, the founder of the contemporary environmental movement, as the iconic model of the theme. Our goal is to compile and post on our website an extensive list of women from across the country who have taken or are taking the lead to save our planet.

This is an excellent resource for teachers, parents, and librarians.
