We celebrate Saint Valentine's Day on February 14th each year as the traditional day lovers express their love for one another. As love fills the air, I want to help you celebrate Valentine's Day with your journal. I love my journal, so why not join me as I share my favorite Valentine's prompts to keep my memories alive.
Another idea that I have been contemplating is starting a love journal. Me and my dear husband have been married seven years, and I want to preserve those memories of our love for each other. A love journal would be the perfect way for me to share these memories and pass them down to our children.
The 14 days of Saint Valentine's Day:
Day One: What is the first Valentine's Day card you can remember receiving? Was it handmade or store bought? Who gave it to you? Was anything inside? Do you still have contact with this person?
Day Two: In your journal write a mushy love letter to your husband, boyfriend or someone you secretly admire. Okay, your not mushy, than just write a letter to someone who holds a special place in your life. You don't have to send it or give it to them but go ahead and write out your feelings this Valentine's Day.
Day Three: What is your favorite thing to receive on Valentine's Day? Chocolate? Candy? Perfume? A new journal? Who usually gives you the best gift on Valentine's Day?
Day Four: What is your dream gift this year for Valentine's Day? Share with your journal an item that you have a desire in your heart for. Cost and practicality does not matter. Go ahead dream big.
Day Five: Now that you've shared your dream present, why not go ahead and plan out the perfect Valentine's Day date. Who would the lucky person be? Where would you go? What would you do? Now remember the imagination is the limit, it can be a real person or an imagined one.
Day Six: How do your friends and family celebrate Valentine's Day? Do they make special plans, hire a sitter or do they do the same thing over and over as the years pass?
Day Seven: How about writing a poem on this Valentine's Day. You can keep it in your journal if you are not ready to share. But be creative, write one to the love of your life, your children or even to your journal.
Day Eight: Do you know the history behind the holiday of Saint Valentine's? Write down in your journal the story behind this holiday of love. If not you can use your journal as a reference and look up all you can find.
Day Nine: List the different ways to say, "I love you" in other languages.
Day Ten: List the loved one's in your life this year and write one thing about each of them you are thankful for.
Day Eleven: Did you buy Valentine's or make your own?
Day Twelve: What gift did you purchase for that someone special in your life?
Day Thirteen: Oops, did you forget to send your journal a Valentine's Day gift?
Day Fourteen: Share with your journal what you really did on Valentine's Day. All dreaming aside.
