Little Samuel Armas’ parents were faced with the news that their unborn baby had spina bifida. They took a chance and allowed doctors to perform surgery on unborn Samuel at twenty-one weeks gestation to reduce damage from the disease. What resulted was this picture, and a beautiful baby named Samuel Alexander Armas, born at full term on December 2, 1999. (Please note that this photo was taken at 21 weeks gestation.
