First up is "Wild Fantasy," by Janelle Denison, the final book in Harlequin Temptationīs Fantasies, Inc. series. Nicole Britton and Mitch Lassiter are paired up for a Survivor-type competition on Wild Fantasy this time out. But can this straight-laced guy manage to capture the adventurous woman he loves? Nicoleīs got some family issues to overcome before she can believe in Mitchīs love, but you know somehow, some way, they will be together. And along the way, the steamy attraction between them rivals the steam heat in a jungle. I was a bit disappointed to learn, though, that Merrilee, the Fantasies, Inc. owner Iīve mentioned in reviewing the previous books, isnīt getting her own book. Instead, her story is tied up in this one. Iīm giving this one three of Cupidīs five arrows.
Next up is
Highwayman by Anne Kelleher (Joveīs Irish Eyes). Elizabeth Wentworth is due to wed Lord Neville, so her fatherīs carted her along to Ireland to see the familyīs holdings. But is Elizabeth falling in love with the man who robbed them on their trip, or with her husband-to-be? While this is pleasant enough reading, it is a bit predictable, and I have to say, I liked one of Ms. Kelleherīs previous books, "Loveīs Labyrinth" much better. Elizabeth isnīt one of my favorite heroines, though I canīt quite put my finger on what I didnīt like. Iīm giving this one two arrows.
Finally, we have Suzanne Forsterīs
Angel Face (Berkley). Am I the only person who thinks Ms. Forster needs to write faster? Itīs been way too long for me since her last book. Dr. Jordan Carpenter canīt imagine why the CIA would come to him to request his help in catching a killer, even after they explain her past and her recent crimes. But when he meets Angela Lowe, he doesnīt know what to believe. Is she a killer or an innocent? And who would try to frame her for something so terrible if she is innocent as she claims? This book has all Ms. Forsterīs trademark plot twists thatīll keep you guessing till the end, and the super-sensuality level that will make you wish you had a cold drink handy, and I wasnīt disappointed. This one earns four arrows. My only consolation now is that instead of waiting over a year for her next book is that Ms. Forster will have a novella in the first contemporary Brava anthology this fall. Yippee!
Until next week, happy reading!
