About the BellaOnline Disabilities Editor

Monica J. Foster is an active community advocate with spina bifida from birth. She is a full-time wheelchair user with a lifetime of experience with the stressors and joys of leading a full life with a disability.

Monica is a certified life coach for people with disabilities and chronic illness from youth to veterans. She runs BUTTERFLYWHEEL Life Transition Coaching, Etc., a service which provides individual and group coaching, motivational speaking, disability awareness training and accessibility consulting. Her website can be found at http://www.butterflywheel.com.

Prior to owning her own coaching practice, Monica was a stellar writer for two daily newspapers in her area on a variety of subjects. She also has worked in disability civil rights and Corporate America. These experiences have lead her to bigger and better opportunities each time, coming together to compliment the skills she needs to be a professional motivator, educator and disability civil rights advocate.

Monica is currently working on a book about dealing with life on bed rest with humor. She herself has experienced being on bed rest for stretches due to poor circulation in her legs. Regardless of real and perceived limitations, Monica enjoys motivating others of all ages to think outside the box while living an empowered life with a disability or chronic illness.

Monica is married to her husband, Bryan, and they live in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Her hobbies include reading mystery and suspense novels, journaling, writing healing haiku, disability advocacy activities, painting and going to the movies.
