Since the days of Candid Camera (1948), it has been clear that we love watching others dealing with and in contrived situations. This is human nature and from its infancy, the medium of television has utilized this. The genre has always been there, just not labeled and hyped as it is now. The result is that currently in the 21st century, we have a vast variety of shows to watch that can be called "Reality Television." It is here to stay and can be a good thing.

I will be walking you through the many choices of reality programming available to us. I am very excited by some of the series and look forward to the new ones being planned. As with anything, it is up to us viewers to determine which shows succeed and which do not.

Even if you think of yourself as not watching or liking Reality TV, may I show you what it is? I guarantee that you can and will find a show (or two or three) that you will like. You may already be watching it and not realizing that is, in fact, Reality TV.
