Archive by Article Title | Archive by Date You Have to Listen When we have a problem that doesn't want to go away, we try to take action and then pray for a solution. Sometimes we have to listen to the world around us to find the answer to our prayers. Women In Recovery There is no addiction that encompasses only men or only women. Addiction(s) are not discriminating in any way. But women in recovery do have something very special...each other! When Is Service Really Service? We both need and want to help and to be of service. Every now and then we should examine our motives and our methods. It is never about us; or is it? Vivitrol and AA Science continues to develop drugs that specifically target addictions. These are great advances but can a monthly drug truly help us recover body, mind and soul? Using the Tools of Recovery Being solid in recovery does not have to be difficult if we carry our toolbox with us wherever we go. But we also must remember to open it and use the tools every day. When we don't, the fallout can be devastating. Trust and a Wheelbarrow It is so easy to say we have faith and trust in a Higher Power. But when we are put to the test, is it really that simple or do we still want it our way? When we turn our will and lives over to a Higher Power, do we honestly trust 100%? Tradition Ten and Controversy Holding on to Tradition Ten is part of what keeps us coming back. Every fellowship should be a safe haven where we leave all controversial issues at the door. Tradition Five and Any Lengths Tradition Five states the groups primary purpose. But what can we do as individuals to carry the message? Does going to "any lengths" to stay sober include reaching out to others? Has your "any lengths" changed in recovery? To Our Moms We celebrate our mothers one day a year. I would like to dedicate the entire month to them and to focus on the relationships we share or have shared with them. The Twelve Traditions The Twelve Traditions of AA are the foundation of all 12 Step Recovery programs but we honestly don't like to read or discuss them. Make them personal and appreciate that they had to be inspired by a Higher Power.
