One of the first biology lessons that most kids learn is about how a creature can grow from an eggs to a tadpole to an adult frog!

A common activity for kids is to wander down to their local pond with a pail, grab up a group of tadpoles, and bring them home to watch them grow and change. If you have a batch of tadpoles to raise, or have some naturally in your water garden, here is how tadpoles grow.
First, make sure the water the tadpoles are is clean and fresh. Anything like chlorine will kill the little proto-frogs. It can't be too hot - so make sure there is shade over the water. If it's too cold, they will mature very slowly, maybe even taking until next year to grow into frogs. Normally tadpoles turn into frogs in a few weeks to a few months.
Tadpoles are of course tiny, and feast on tiny plants. You can give them tiny bits of lettuce if you don't have natural pond plants around. Give them enough that they eat it all, but don't let the water get cloudy with the extra food.
As the tadpoles start to grow legs, have them in a big water area with ledges for them to crawl up onto. Give them nice, gentle slopes so they have an easy time making their way out of the water. Again, be sure to give them ledges or leaves to hide beneath so they can get cool spots if it's too hot out.
Soon you'll have a batch of adult frogs, ready to start the cycle over again!
