Italian Style Burger Recipe

Italian Style Burgers

These tasty hamburgers have spaghetti sauce in the ground beef and they're topped with Mozzarella cheese. Serve on lightly grilled Kaiser rolls or onion rolls for a delicious alternative to plain old hamburgers.

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup spaghetti sauce
  • 1 mild sweet onion - sliced thin
  • 2 T. melted butter
  • 4 thick slices mozzarella cheese
  • 4 kaiser rolls or onion rolls

Preparation -
Add the tomato sauce and seasonings to the ground beef. Mix well, let stand for about 10 minutes, then shape into 4 burger patties. Grill for about 5 to 6 minutes per side, or to desired doneness outside and totally free of any trace of pink in the center. While burgers are grilling, brush thin slices of onion with 1 T. melted butter and grill lightly. Brush sliced sides of buns with melted butter and grill lightly. Just before removing burgers from grill top each with a slice of Mozzarella. Place on burgers on grilled buns and top with grilled onions. Add a small amount of additional spaghetti sauce, if desired.
