Toxoplasmosis and Cat Litter
Guest Author - Moss Greene

Toxoplasmosis can be dangerous during pregnancy. So, since cat feces is a major cause of toxoplasmosis, take precautions.

If you already have a cat or kitten, be sure to keep it indoors. That way, if kitty doesn't already carry the parasite, he or she won't have a chance to pick it up outside. And be sure to always have someone else change the cat’s litter box on a daily basis. If you must do it yourself, wear a dust mask and gloves and wash your hands thoroughly when you are done. As a matter of fact, it's a good idea to wash your hands any time you even pat kitty.

Since pregnancy is the only time toxoplasmosis is serious, if you are pregnant or thinking of getting pregnant, it is a particularly wise precaution to protect yourself from this parasite.
