Updates On Two Stories Previously Featured
On August 19th, 2003, Louis Schenck III opened fire on people that lived
in his own Meraux neighborhood. This incident happened only minutes after
said suspect, stormed out from his parent's own home, following a heated
arguement with them. He then proceeded to go to his car, where he produced
a shotgun, and then started to fire on those gathered at a corner school
bus stop.
Killed in the shooting was Danny Foto, 39, father of the two-year-old boy
named Bryson, whom Schenck also seriously wounded with his bullets. Steve
Miller, 32, was also injured while standing at the bus stop.
Schenck was indicted for one count of first degree murder, as well as
three counts of attempted murder, on Wednesday October 8, 2003.
Because it is alleged, he was mentally unstable, during the time of the
shootings. Schenck will be subjected to a November 18th sanity hearing,
which will determine indeed, if he is either sane or insane. Schenck
has had a history of prior mental problems in the past however.
The other update is about the fate of the Garyville man, who sliced the
throats of his wife and children, while they slept.
Back in April of 2002, David Roy took the lives of his sleeping wife
and three kids, when he took a knife and cut all of their throats.
Roy then went to the St. John The Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office, not
long after the slayings, and stated to a detective there that he had done
away with his family.
Roy appeared in almost two weeks ago, before District Judge J. Sterling
Snowdy, and decided to plead guilty to the four charges of first-degree
murder against him.
Onlookers at the opening to this trial, noticed immediately, that Roy
displayed no emotion with regards to the heinous crimes. Because of the
fact, he went with the guilty plea, Roy was given four consecutive life
terms instead of the death penalty.
So the fate of one murderer, the killer of a family, has finally been
met and sealed. We do await the outcome of Louis Schenck III's fate,
for murdering an innocent young father, and almost killing three others.
His trial will come about, based on the findings of his sanity hearing,
and is yet to be determined at the time of this writing.
