For many people the winter holidays are a time to connect with family and friends. It is a tradition in my family to enclose a long, lengthy, hand written letter with the holiday greeting card. It's the time of year that we catch up with what is happening in each other's lives. This year I plan to use this simple holiday letterhead for my yearly update. It's simple to make this letterhead with Paint Shop Pro 8. So let's get started.
Step 1. Start a new image. On the Menubar, click File > New to open the New Image dialog box. This project will be printed on 8 1/2 x 11 paper, so we will use the 8 x 10 inch vertical preset from the Presets drop-down list. The default resolution for this preset is 300. Let's change the Resolution to 200. Finally set the background color in the Image Characteristics section to white. (see Figure 1) Step 2. Set the pattern for the holiday message. At the upper right corner, you will find the Materials Palette. Click on the lower colored box (Background and Fill) to open the Material dialog box. In this box click on the Pattern tab. Now choose a pattern from the drop-down list. The letters of your holiday message will be filled with this pattern. In the example I used the Colorful Lens pattern but you can use any of the patterns. Set the Scale value to 100% and the Angle value to zero. Then click OK. (see Figure 2)
