Make Your Own Photo Greeting Card With Paint Shop Pro 8

Project Information: • Skill level: Basic • CorelR JascR Paint ShopTM ProR 8 • General tips

If you have children or grandchildren you know how quickly they grow up and how much they change from year to year. Sending a family photo with your holiday greeting card is a great way to let family and friends know how much the kids have changed over the past year. Why not put a different twist on this idea by making your own holiday greeting card and incorporating the family photo into the greeting card design.

What you will need:
  • Inkjet Printer
  • Blank Greeting Card and Envelope (8.5 x 5.5 inches folded, photo quality)
  • Family Photo
  • Digital Camera or Scanner

Step 1. Family photo. Download your photo from your digital camera or scan it into the Paint Shop Pro program.

Step 2. Start your card. Click File > New on the Menubar to open the New Image dialog box. Set the following values in the dialog box. (see Figure 1)

Step 3. Set the layer to white. The base color of the card can be any color you prefer. In the example I used a white (HTML color code: #FFFFFF) layer. Set the Style button on the Foreground Materials Box to Color. (see Figure 2 -- Materials Boxes - black square) Now click on the Foreground Materials Box to open the Material dialog box. Click on the Color tab in this dialog box, set the color of your choice, and click OK to close the dialog box. Now you can use the Flood Fill tool to fill the layer with color.
