Louisiana Has Highest Gonorrhea Rate In Country
For the second year in a row, Louisiana has outranked other states with the
highest rate of gonorrhea in the United States, and the number of cases of this particular STD is steadily on the rise it seems. In addition to gonorrhea, Louisiana also has a bad standing for another STD, which is no other than Chlamydia.

What is gonorrhea to be exact? Gonorrhea is a very common STD, which can be transmitted from one person to another, via any type of close sexual exchange between two parties. Though it is curable, it can cause major health problems, if it is left undetected and treated in both men and women.

Symptoms of gonorrhea in women include having pain during sex, a vaginal discharge that is often yellowish or bloody in appearance, discomfort in the lower stomach, and abnormal bleeding during and after their menstrual cycle. Symptoms for men are painfully sore testicles, frequent burning during urination, and a yellowish-white discharge as well.

These symptoms can make themselves known in as little as two to ten days, or as long a duration a time, as a few months after initial sexual contact between said couple. Because these symptoms rarely show up in women, it is adviseable to be tested, especially if you're being intimate with someone who has had an STD before.

Practicing "safe" sex is the best avenue, in order to avoid being exposed to gonorrhea or any other STD, by using condoms as constant protection. But the best measure is to not sleep with anyone at all. It's a thing called "abstinence," and something not very hard to grow accustomed to. Especially if you value your body and general health from an overall standpoint. As well as from a sexual one too.
