Marc Anthony and Former Miss Universe Are Getting A Divorce
According to court documents, Dayanara Torres, Former Miss Universe wants a divorce from Latin music star Marc Anthony. Torres filed marriage dissolution on Jan. 20, 2004 in Miami-Dade Circuit Court saying their union was "irretrievably broken." The beauty queen is seeking alimony and child support.
The couple wed in Las Vegas in May 2000. They have two children, Cristian, 2, and Ryan, 5 months. Also, Anthony has a nine-year-old daughter from a previous relationship. Anthony and Torres briefly separated, then renewed their vows in at San Juan Cathedral in Puerto Rico in December 2002.
Anthony, 35, is one of Latin music's hottest stars. He was born in New York to Puerto Rican parents. The Grammy winning salsa singer’s international fame swelled with the popularity his 1999 self-titled English-language album, which produced the hit song "I Need to Know" and went triple platinum. Also, he has acted in films and on Broadway. Recently, it has been reported that Anthony is in the studio recording a song with Jennifer Lopez for her upcoming movie, Shall We Dance?
Torres, 29, won the Miss Universe pageant in 1993 representing Puerto Rico.
There’s been no comment from Marc Anthony’s publicist or record label, Sony Discos and Torres has not commented on the matter, either.
