ASOS is a unisex online shopping experience that offers a specialty line for plus size women called ASOS Curve. Its brick and mortar headquarters is located in London, England but thanks to the internet they serve a worldwide market and over the last ten years have become one of the leaders in online fashion.
Selection: ASOS Curve offers knits, dresses, tops, jeans, trousers, skirts, jackets, outerwear, swimwear and accessories. Some items like swimwear are seasonal. There were 130 items in total to choose from, not including styles in the 14 to 18 size range. Sizing: ASOS Curve carries plus size clothing in sizes 20 to 26.
Styling: ASOS Curve offers trendy casual and career clothing for fashion conscious young adults and women under forty although there is obviously something for everyone.
Pricing: The prices are average to pricey depending on product. They have an outlet section and offer regular sales anywhere from 15 to 50% off.
Availability: ASOS Curve offers free delivery worldwide.
Overall Impression: Once I click on the "Curve" link I am in shopping heaven. I love the on trend styles and fashions that you cannot find state side and the fact that shipping is free is a HUGE draw.
I have the choice of limiting my searches to "new arrivals", garment type i.e. dresses, price, or size. They have big enough selection (130 items) without being over powering with choices -- one of the things I like is you do not see ten of the same tops in different colors in an attempt to make the selection look bigger. Personally, I just like the "view all" way of browsing and do a downward pan of all items. Even if you forget the title of the plus size brand (Curve) a quick search for "plus sizes" will bring you directly to the Curve dressing room.
I have ordered from ASOS Curve three times and for the most part have been thrilled with my purchase. I find the sizing fits bigger than other UK stores which is not necessarily a problem when you are plus size. ASOS does offer no hassle returns but I have never taken advantage of it. I also have never participated in their online "marketplace" where you can shop from other designers -- I did a quick search there for "plus size" and found nothing.
As well as the usual credit card methods they offer Paypal which I had issues with the first time I tried to order from them. So much so I ended up missing out on a great sale. I emailed them about the problem and after the weekend they emailed me to apologize and gave me a special code so I could still participate. It was unexpected and I was very impressed. I have not had any problems with their PayPal system since.
I definitely recommend shopping at ASOS Curve.
