SVGCuts Wins Martha Stewart American Made Awards

SVGCuts Wins Martha Stewart American Made Awards
A few months ago, I stumbled upon a marketing video trailer on YouTubeR for SVGCuts, a craft business owned by Mary and Leo Kowal. What impressed me, besides the professional quality of the video, was the idea of using video trailers for marketing craft products.

Leo believes the success of SVGCuts is a combination of friendly and personal customer service and social marketing. Social media marketing is becoming a mainstay in business marketing for business as big as the CBS Corporation, marketing this year’s TV lineup, to small businesses such as SVGCuts.

There are many professional and amateur videos on YouTube about creating many types of handmade crafts but SVGCuts is the first to use video trailers to announce and market their product. Although Leo believes sixty percent of their marketing success is from GoogleR and YouTube, he is dedicated to all types of social marketing.

Paper crafting has been around for centuries but the Kowals have reinvented this craft and built their online business with today’s technology. With over 30,000 FacebookR fans and 2 million views on YouTube, Leo Kowal, the technological side of SVGCuts, believes that their social marketing efforts, especially the videos on YouTube, are the reason that their five year old business has been so successful. SVGCuts now reaches over 140 countries via TwitterR, FacebookR, PinterestR, YouTube, InstagramR and their online store, where their sale the digital die cut files designed by Mary Kowal. Mary is the artistic side of SVGCuts and creates the beautiful and high quality digital die cut designs. Especially impressive are her 3D paper projects.

This success and popularity of a great product is the reason SVGCuts is the 2013 Audience Choice Winner for the Martha Stewart American Made Awards, which showcases the best in the handmade. This year SVGCuts competed against over 2,000 self-nominated small business owners in six categories including Craft, Design, Food, Garden, Style and Technology. Public voting began in August and the winers were announced October 1st. The winners join Martha Stewart in New Your for the second annual American Made Event, which showcases the winners in panel sessions where they share their success stories and offer advice to fellow business owners.
