15 Hot Sandwich Ideas
Who thinks of sandwiches as comfort food? Hot sandwiches are the ultimate food that satisfies the appetite and soothes the spirit. Warm, often served with a hearty helping of gravy, these tasty treats can elevate the leftovers from the day before.
Another bonus with these hot sandwiches is the part that they can play in managing your food budget. When you have a little of this and a dab of that hanging around in your refrigerator, sauté the food, pile it on some bread or a bun, and toast the whole thing. You can blend it together with those odd bits of cheese that you have left from other culinary projects. Other ideas for binding a warm sandwich together include using marinara sauce or a salad dressing.
Hot Sandwiches with Gravy:

*Hot Italian sausage sliced up and combined with sautéed onions, peppers, and olive oil, then toasted in a Portuguese roll.
*Thin sliced warm roast beef and pork with spicy red pepper aioli sauce, then grilled on flatbread.
*Oysters, breaded and fried, served on an oven toasted baguette with spicy tartar sauce.
*Onions and peppers sautéed with chunks of hot Italian sausage, then covered in provolone cheese and grilled in a Panini.
*Hot pastrami with Swiss cheese and grilled onions on a hard roll.
*Turkey sausage, scrambled egg, onion, peppers, and fried potatoes grilled in a tortilla with salsa.
*Artichoke hearts, marinated with peppers, onions, zucchini, Kalamata olives, then served oven-toasted on a Ciabatta roll with sliced fresh mozzarella, basil, olive oil, and roasted tomatoes.
*Warm meatball sub, toasted with provolone, sauce, and your choice of veggies.
*Hot capicola and Swiss cheese all grilled on a Kaiser roll.
