Tech Trouble and Player of the Month
I had some problems with my web site where I place all my pictures to then put them in my articles. This web site had sent me a notice but it went to my spam and I did not see it until I noticed that all of my pictures were deleted on this site. That was a scary awakening and had to find out what was going on. I worked with their chat service people and it took most of the day. I started in the morning but then had a golf game so returned to it this afternoon. It is now up and running, another scare taken care of. I hate when these things happen but to get your pictures to appear on your article you need a good supply resource and I have had Homestead.com for over 12 years. They were changing some things in their domain name and they were trying to let me know of these changes
A new magazine is coming to Mill Creek and since I am on the board of Mill Creek Association we are interested in this new magazine. I was asked to write an article about the history of Salado with pictures. Along with that we want to promote the new Mill Creek Country Club. I have several ideas we can promote as articles for this magazine. The first will be the history of the golf course along with pictures. I also want to promote a golfer of the month and tips and articles from our Pro J. L. Lewis. He has agreed and we will coordinate these articles so they will show activities at the club.
My first golfer of the month to promote is Jane Wilmer who is the oldest member of the club and is still playing. Jane was 90 years old this year and plays the most golf of any member of the club. If she had not taken a tumble while riding her bicycle in January, that put a clamps on her time on the golf course. She is back and still will play every day if she can find partners willing to play.
Jane purchased a new golf cart this year I think it is her third golf cart and she first joined the golf club in 1971 when she and her husband moved here from San Antonio, Texas. It was a nine hole golf course at that time but grew to 27 after the golf course was bought by Don Macke. Jane played through all those updating and I joined her in 2003 after I moved here. We had played many rounds together when my husband and I came to Salado for a few months each winter. Sometimes Jane and I were the only ones on the golf course.
Bring the oldest member of the golf course and one that is still playing the game is a great tribute to the game of golf. Jane Wilmer is our greatest tribute to golf and our player of the month.
