Guest Author - Ronald Peter Ciras

Recently , I was happy to get an interview with Roberta Dulay , the owner
of Yalia Technology Design , as a part of my Successful Women series .Here
is my interview which I hope will help you all find success through learning
about how others found success so that you can find ,too !

1. What is the name of your business ?
A. Yalia Technology Design .

2. What is your role in your business ?
A. I am the proverbial "chief , cook and bottlewasher ."

3. What is your business goal ?
A. To build a web-based applications and websites that fill particular niches
in the internet space and , of course , provide revenue stream .

4. What is your current job ?
A. This is it . I run the company .

5. What are your day to day activities ?
A. Because it's a small company , I do a little bit of everything , from
new business development to project management to hands on programming.

6. What is your background and experience ?
A. I spent over 10 years in marketing before I even learned about the internet .I took a 2 hour free class at my local ISP , then built my
first website at Geocities the same weekend . I've had many ideas for
internet websites over the years, but , it's only been in the past year
or so that I've taken the time to get these going .

7.How does one break into your business , Roberta ?
A.You simply need basic technical skills , and of course , a good idea that
doesn't exist yet on the internet .If , you make it happen , your set .

8.What advice do you have for people trying to find work in today's economy ?
A.Get organized . You should approach your job search as you would any other
project-plan what steps are required for success in your search , then ,
execute those steps .Work on your job search everyday ,not just when it
strikes you .Seek out creative ways to market yourself and look for non-published opportunities . Networking should play a key factor in your job
search,in fact , you should do networking everyday of your life , whether
you are employed or not. Finally , don't give up hope-the perfect job is
out there for you just waiting for you to find it .

9.What are the biggest challenges you face in your job ?
A.Balancing my time between programming and business development , and of
course , keeping the revenue stream sustainable .

10. What are the rewards you get from your job ?
A. Well , I get to work from home, which is a big plus in my book . And I
get to develop cool websites like JobFiler,Nederland Internet and I-Bargains ,
with several more in the works .

11. If, you could be anyone else, who would it be and why ?
A. I would love to be myself, twenty-five years ago ,I think that would be
fascinating to be able to make all new choices and see where I end up .

12. My last question , Roberta . If, you could change the world , what would
you do ?
A. It seems that there is so much anger , distrust ,greed and violence in
the world today . If , anything , I would like to see that replaced by a world
where everyone just gets along . I would also like to see a world where the
basic necessities(food, shelter, health care) are available to everyone on a
sliding scale, where taxes are taken care of by companies , not individuals.
And where everyone who wants a job can have one . That's not asking so much ,
is It ?

I hope that you found my interview with Roberta Dulay helpful . My next
interview will be in two weeks with Kim Proctor from spirituality.com .
And speaking of spirituality.com , they will be having a chat session
with Barbara Sshipka , author of LEADERSHIP IN A CHALLENGING WORLD ,A
SACRED JOURNEY on April 1st at 1pm . Go to www.spirituality.com or to
Spirituality@Work for more details .

As a final note , over the last ten days I have been experiencing problems
getting my email . I keep on getting some unknown error message in my Outlook
Express so that my folder won't open so I can't get your message .So ,
I am currently have people working on the problem and I will answer all
your emails just as soon as I can .
HAPPY JOBHUNTING !
