Specialty Job Sites Make Breaking In Easy

Getting into to a specialty job market like sports, entertainment, writing or publishing used to be a difficult proposition, at best. An applicant’s success was almost completely tied to whom they knew in the business or sheer determination and a little luck. Sometimes to even get a chance you had to pack up and move to one of the great industry hubs like New York, Los Angeles or Chicago. This can be a risky game for someone fresh out of school with little money, no job and little more than a dream. Luckily, today things are a lot easier. The Internet has connected this country’s two coasts and connected us to the world. Today, someone interested in a working on the other side of the country has merely to go online. Before ever leaving your apartment contacts, recruiters, places to live and friends can be found in a new location.

But what about finding that dream job in a market like entertainment, sports or media? That isn’t as easy opening up the employment section of a newspaper. Even the largest and best job web sites like monster.com and the others don’t advertise those jobs. Luckily, there is a new breed of job site out there. They are highly specialized to service only the industries they represent. It’s easy to find a specialty job board site. Simply search for the industry you are interested on a search engine, e.g. “sports newscaster jobs”. Be sure to look into any board that requires money upfront. While there are lots of legitimate job boards out there that limit overvaluation by charging a small monthly fee, not all are as trustworthy. Usually a free or low-priced trial membership is offered so you can try the service and see how many jobs are posted in your area of interest. Always try before you buy to be sure the site is for you.

Sports nuts can try JobsInSports.com or SportsCareers.com to find their dream job in the Sports Industry. Is Hollywood more your style? Try www.4entertainmentjobs.com or EntertainmentCareers.net. A good place to start looking for a writing job is The Write Jobs and Craig’s List Writing Jobs (the selection is New York jobs, but any large city has listings).

Wherever your dream career lies, there is almost certainly a road to it on the Internet. It may take some time and effort researching, but it will all be worth it when you find the perfect job for you.
