I have had many people ask me if they can work from home without high speed internet. You can still work from home, but you will miss a lot of opportunities that require high speed internet and you will have to be more creative than people with fast access. Also, many jobs that do allow dial up connections require a dedicated line for your computer. Two lines can be just as costly as one line and high speed access in many parts of the country, although where dial up or satellite are the only choices, two lines may still be much cheaper than high speed access.
Are you willing to do phone work? If so, several companies accept dial up, but require two phone lines. One of these companies is Work at Home Agents. Another company that accepts dial up is Ver-A-Fast. They have customer service openings that require dial up, but do not have openings in all states.
If you are willing to work as a freelancer, you can find many opportunities that do not require dial up. Some WAHMs use Guru to bid on freelance jobs, but say that without becoming a paying member, they miss out on most jobs. If you want to freelance as a writer, check out Writers Market or some of the online markets for jobs.
Other jobs you can work are not truly telework, but worth looking into until you can afford DSL. Mystery Shopping and Merchandising jobs are flexible and some WAHMs make good part time money from doing them. Do not pay for listings. There are plenty of free resources for Mystery Shops. One good site is Volition. Another is the National Association for Retail Marketing Services.
