Enlisted - The Series Premiere
Enlisted is a new family-friendly comedy on Fox. The series follows three brothers who work on a small Army post and are assigned to a "misfit" unit, Rear D. The series' catchphrase is, "Brothers. Soldiers. Misfits." The pilot episode opens with the three brothers (Derek, Randy and Pete) seeing their dad off for Army deployment. Fast forward twenty years later and while in Afghanistan, Staff Sergeant Pete Hill punches a Colonial in the face and ends up losing his rank (he's busted down to Sergeant) and being reassigned to the Rear Detachment Unit where his brothers are already stationed. The brothers are played by Geoff Stults, Chris Lowell, and Parker Young. The cast is rounded out by Angelique Cabral and Keith David.
Sergent Hill isn't happy with his reassignment and immediately begins pleading to be reassigned. From the beginning the show is filled with jokes and witty banter. One of his brothers hates being a solder and his other brother loves being a soldier but does a horrible job of being one. The Rear D unit is responsible for supporting the families of deployed soldiers. Sergeant Hill is in charge of his own group of soldiers. The group includes his two brothers, two very obese soldiers and an angry female soldier who is going through a divorce. Initially there is friction between the brothers however as the first episode closes out, they make up and the unit decides that they are no longer going to be losers.
Although this is the pilot episode, you can already see the direction that the show is headed in. At some point, Sergeant Hill is going to get his unit together and they are going to go from misfits to super soldiers. In the midst of turning the unit around, he is also going to mend the broken fences between his brothers they will form a stronger bond.
The first episode of Enlisted premiered on January 10, 2014. Episodes are 30 minus long and come on on Fridays. You can catch it On Demand with your local cable or satellite provider or you can watch it online at Fox.com.
