eBay's dominance online has always seemed unbeatable, just take a look at Yahoo, Amazon, and MSN and you will see not even those giants were able to knock eBay off the top of the mountain.
Many industry experts have stated if there is ever to be a real shot at competing with eBay said company will have to do something different, if they try to compete directly with the same auction / business model they will not get far.
There are very logical reasons for eBay's dominance, and the biggest one is evident after talking to many eBay Powersellers who have tried selling on the other auction sites. There just isn't as many BUYERS, sure a site can lure as many sellers as they want - many have tried with cash incentives - but the bottom line comes down to buyers, if there are not enough people buying then all the sellers in the world will soon abandon the site.
Enter PrizeWise, a website that was launched earlier this year believes they have what it takes.
PrizeWise is a sweepstakes type of site but with a twist.
Let's say you want to sell your car, a 1995 Honda Accord. On eBay you could probably expect to receive $5,000 for the car, but you want more for your effort.
Now you can list your car on PrizeWise for $7,500. (up to 150% of it's value) Once you have listed it with PrizeWise, people will start entering their raffle tickets on your prize in hopes of winning your 1995 Accord. As soon as 7,500 tickets have been entered, PrizeWise will make a drawing for the winner. The winner will then collect their prize and you will collect your $7,500 (less their commission). It's that simple.
Here's the fun part, if you use eBay as a research tool and find products that are hot sellers, like digital cameras, you can now afford to compete. Even if you are able to buy the products for under retail you can still make a profit by selling them (er, giving them away) at PrizeWise.
Here's another tip,
If you don't want to take inventory of the items you sell, then place the item up on PrizeWise and when the prize is won go to your local WalMart and purchase the item and ship to the winner. As soon as delivery is confirmed PrizeWise will pay you. Sure you have to pay up front for eh product, but at least you know what you will be paid for it.
If you register please do me a favor, enter my email address as the one who referred you, I'll get 5 free tickets ;-)
