At the institution, Steve tries to convince E.J. that he is giving up Kayla and that his loyalties remain with him. After a heated exchange, E.J. finally agrees to help Steve. Later in the week, Kayla visits Steve at the institution. She pumps him for information about E.J. but Steve won’t bite. He tries to convince her that he is not worth her trouble and that she should get out of his life. He tells her she should be scared of him. This fires Kayla up and she tells him, in no uncertain terms, that he is a coward. Steve escapes from the facility by pretending to hurt Kayla. The orderly comes in to see what all the ruckus is about and Steve locks both Kayla and the orderly in the room.
Once freed, Kayla enlists the help of her super-sleuth brother, Roman to track down Steve. They first interrogate E.J. who insists that he has not kidnapped Steve. They call Billie and ask her if she has seen Steve. Of course, Billie covers for Steve and says she’s been in bed all day with the flu. E.J. is on to Billie’s lies and shows up at her door just as the duo are about to make their escape.

Willow has her brother Jed hide the check under her mattress that she received from E.J. for services rendered. E.J. finds the check and destroys it because he claimed that Willow did not carry out his directions precisely. In actuality, he was using her to do his dirty work.

Max and Abby go to the Penthouse Grill. Abby is thrilled.

Meanwhile on the island, Claire is really sick. Shawn gets help from a barmaid named Gabby. She gets the local doctor to care for Claire. Gabby is working the ropes on Shawn. She offers Shawn, Belle, and Claire room and board in exchange and while fixing her boat. Shawn accepts.

Chelsea finds out that Billie and Nick slept together. She is extremely upset and tells Billie in various forms what she thinks of her. Later while in the ladies’ room at the Penthouse Grill (a happening spot this week in Salem), she confides in Abby that she is leaving town. Abby tells her to talk to Bo first. Abby says no and accidentally leaves her hairbrush behind. Willow picks it up.

Chelsea decides to leave Bo a note (which he never receives). She slips it under the door. Willow is lurking in the bushes waiting to maker her move. She slips into the house after Chelsea leaves while Hope and Ciara are upstairs. She lights a candle to see, swipes some jewelry, and the flame of the candle catches on the drapes. She then drops Chelsea’s hairbrush on the floor and dashes out the door.

Billie asks Bo to help her find Chelsea. He speaks to her on the phone and tries to convince her to stay - she won’t. In the meantime, Hope sees the fire, grabs the baby and leaves the house. She calls Bo to tell him what happened.

The investigators find the hairbrush and everyone is convinced that Chelsea set the fire at Bo and Hope’s house, which infuriates Chelsea. Sami and Lucas offer her a place to stay at their apartment.

Kate tells Philip that he should be his own man and not follow Victor’s example. He should not try to retain full custody of Claire.

Celeste insists that Sami kill E.J. It’s the only way. Sami refuses. Celeste tells her that even if the baby is Lucas’, E.J. will still want her. Sami needs to get the upper hand. Later, Sami asks Nick to change the test results if the amniocentesis does not show Lucas as the father of her baby. He refuses to help but does tell her that he will give her a blank form and she can do it herself. Sami goes to E.J. to tell him that she will agree to have an amniocentesis. She wants E.J. to back off if the results show that Lucas is the father. He agrees (which we know means nothing).

Celeste tells Benji that E.J. is out of control and he must be stopped. Benji tells Celeste that Stefano thinks Sami’s baby is a gift from God.

Sami asks Chelsea to be a bridesmaid at her wedding (Chelsea is a Sami in the making). She grudgingly accepts. Celeste tells Sami again that she must kill E.J. Sami refuses and leaves for a dress fitting.

E.J. meets with the doctor regarding Stefano’s progress after the kidney transplant. The doctor thinks Stefano may need a bone marrow transplant and may need a donor. E.J. insists that Stefano receive the best care.
