Tick Tock Readers!

Encourage patrons to expand their reading time with this clock.

Duplicate a clock, such as the one at ABC Teach, for each patron. Arrange the clocks on a bulletin board entitled "Any Time Is Reading Time!" Label each clock hand with a patron's first name. Create and distribute a reading log form. The form should have:
Date Title # of Minutes

At the end of each week, the patrons add up their total reading minutes. They then move the hands on their clocks to show the total time spend reading for that week. Once a patron reaches 12 hours, reward him/her with a small treat.

Encourage patrons to always carry a book with them. When they a waiting somewhere they can pull it out and read. This can be waiting in the cafeteria after they have eaten lunch. Waiting to leave for school in the morning. There are many minutes in the day that are available to readers who are ready with a book.
