The Spice House

The Spice House
Tom and Patty, owners of The Spice House, know how to find the best exquisite spices, herbs and seasonings you could ask for! Between running three stores and their online business, Tom and Patty give lectures on the spices and are 2nd generation spice merchants. Their stores in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Evanston, Illinois and Chicago, Illinois are full of spices, seasonings, dip seasonings, blends, herbs, extracts, rubs and more plus they offer several different accessories including mills, jars, mortars and pestles, grinders and graters.

Some of the wonderful items I've had the pleasure of using from them include:

Back-of-the-Yards Garlic Pepper - One of their top three sellers, this mixture is wonderful on just about anything! Use it as a rub or sprinkle it on veggies, eggs, soups or anything you like a little zip with. We sprinkled it on garlic toast too. The mixture gave it just the right flavor.

Lake Shore Drive Seasonings - Suggested for use on fish or vegetables this creates a tasty dip for raw veggies or chips plus it's quite delicious sprinkled on eggs. Made with chives, scallions and freshly-ground green peppercorns it is also fabulous added into a stuffing blend in stuffed tomatoes and bell peppers.

Baker's Spice Selection Gift Box - What a wonderful gift! I was extremely impressed with this baker's treasure! The box comes with bottles of special spices and extracts including: Saigon Cassia Cinnamon, ground East Indies Nutmeg, powdered China No. 1 Ginger, and Double Strength Pure Vanilla Extract all surrounded by stick cinnamon, ginger root, whole nutmeg and Turkish bay leaves for a wonderful collection for anyone who loves to bake! A Perfect gift!

China Tunghing Cassia Cinnamon - I believe this has to be the most aromatic cinnamon I've come across myself. Terrific to use in baking, pies and all kinds of desserts, beverages and breakfast foods. I can tell that this would definitely be a holiday favorite in my home!
Ceylong "True" Cinnamon - A lighter cinnamon which is also great to use in desserts where cinnamon is the star flavor! Try it in hot tea for a warm soothing treat that will take you back in years to childhood holiday memories!
Korintje Indonesian Cinnamon - This earthy aromatic cinnamon is the traditional cinnamon commonly used in dishes here in the United States. The grade carried by The Spice House is the highest A grade whereas most grocery stores carry a lower grade. Add this to any dish and see if you don't get rave reviews!

Mexican Vanilla Beans - These beans are traditionally the best strongest spicy flavored beans you can get when crops are good. Try them in desserts, custards and sauces for a treat you won't forget!

Madagascar Vanilla Beans - Another vanilla bean for use in that unforgetable sweet taste that reminds us of mom's cooking! Check out The Spice House's suggested uses for these delicious additions to your foods.

Tahitian Vanilla Beans - The star of the vanilla beans! A rare treat indeed, Tahitian vanilla beans are only produced in small supplies and are a stronger aromatic bean which produces a delectable flavor when used in baking and desserts. You've truly got a treasure when you get these in your cupboard.

Pumpkin Pie Spices - What fall holiday is complete without pumpkin pie! But what pie is complete without the right spices? The Spice House knows and they've put together the perfect blend of exquisite spices to make your pumpkin pie the favorite one at your next event!
