| Bilingual Baby, SPANISH (1993) By TrSmall Fry Productions Video Release Date: June 1, 2000 Product Description: Amazon.com This total immersion approach to language means that no English is spoken on this video, and only the occasional sentence is translated onscreen. Instead, viewers are treated to five sections of objects, concepts, or actions while a woman identifies them in Spanish. The first section shows a boy (niño), various people, and animals eating (comer) and an apple (manzana) and then puts it all together (El niño come la manzana!). The same method is used for numbers, colors, manners, and phrases and then another section of familiar words and phrases. The 40-minute video comes with an introduction and the lessons spelled out in a fold-out cardboard display attached to the video box. This is a serious effort meant to teach children a second language while they are still quite young. But that won't stop children from enjoying the brightly colored video of animals, toys, and a multiracial cast of kids. Ages 1-5. --Kimberly Heinrichs | |
| Learn Spanish with Carlos & Chiquitita By Language Tree Product Description: Dove Foundation Review Board "This DVD should be in every home. I thoroughly enjoyed my first lesson in Spanish. Each lesson is broken down into short meaningful segments that teach through repetition and song. Your children will play this one over and over again. I encourage parents to sit down with their children and reinforce the lessons they are learning. This one is a must have for home schoolers and parents who want their children to grow up knowing another language." - Scott Rolfe | |
| Brainy Baby - Spanish By Koch Vision Entertai Product Description: Amazon.com Research shows that during the early years, a child's brain is wired to absorb the syntax, sentence structure, and dialect of a second language. Based on the concept of total language immersion, Brainy Baby: Spanish is a commendable tool for those seeking bilingual enrichment for their youngsters. Only Spanish is spoken through 45 minutes of instruction and live-action footage that covers familiar objects, colors, numbers, and phrases. While there are several bilingual videos on the market by notable companies, this one stands out for its superb sound and picture quality, lively footage, and extra DVD features such as a Spanish nursery rhyme, interactive story, and (when kids need a break from language lessons) entertaining bloopers. While not meant to be a child's sole source of bilingual instruction, it's a worthy tool, especially if adults can reinforce the lessons throughout the child's day. The instruction is solid, the picture quality superb, and the interspersed frivolity reminds us that captivating kids is the ultimate goal of education. (Ages 2 to 5) --Lynn Gibson Media: DVD |
