In a previous tutorial you learned how to add a monochromatic effect to an image with PhotoshopR CS. In this tutorial you will learn how to add text to a monochromatic styled scrapbook page that was made with the image from the previous tutorial. However, the same steps can be used to add text to any image or project with Paint ShopTM ProR 9.
Step 1. Add a new layer. On the Menu bar, click File > Open to open your scrapbook page into Paint Shop Pro. We will first add a new raster layer for the text to sit on. Placing the text on its own layer will make editing the text easier. On the Menu bar, click Layers > New Raster Layer. Use the default values in the dialog box and click OK.
Now you are ready to start adding text to the scrapbook page.
Step 2. Set the colors for the text. Click on the Text Tool icon in the Tools Toolbar. We will first set the colors for the text and we will choose these colors from the scrapbook page itself. In the Materials Palette, click on Foreground/Stroke to open the Material Properties dialog box. You are now ready to choose a dark color from the scrapbook page. This dark color will outline the text. Place your mouse pointer over the scrapbook page and click on a dark color of your choice. This color will then appear as the Current color in the dialog box and you can click OK.
Now you are ready to set the solid (fill) color for the text. Click on Background/Fill in the Materials Palette and repeat this step to choose a lighter fill color from the scrapbook page.
