Ursula Stanhope is on safari in the African jungle when her fiancé, Lyle, arrives to whisk her away back to civilization. Things to go as expected when the pair are cornered by a lion and Lyle runs, leaving Ursula helpless until legendary White Ape arrives in the form of George, a man raised in the jungle after surviving a plane crash when he was an infant. Infatuation between the two grows, but it’s dampened with Lyle shows up and wounds George, forcing Urusla to bring him back home to San Francisco with her. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching 1997’s “George of the Jungle”.

∙ Lyle and Ursula encounter a lion while wandering through the jungle. When the lion first jumps out, the close-up and rear views of Lyle show his arms are straight down, by his sides. The scene cuts to another front close-up when Lyle says he’s going to get help and his hands are now on Ursula’s shoulders.

∙ After George originally fights the lion, it comes back toward Ursula again. George grabs Ursula and swings away. In the first view of the two of them on the vine, George’s left arm is over Ursula’s shoulder, down her back with his hand holding on to the top of her pants. In the next view, his arm is under hers and around her lower back. The next view of them, when he says “That close one”, his arm is above her shoulder again and wrapped around her upper back, with his hand touching her left shoulder.

∙ CAUTION: May Contain Spoilers! Near the end, George is back in the Jungle and is being attacked by Thor and Max. Ursula swings in on one of the vines, trying to help him. She’s wearing a black vest as she swings through. But, in the quick view of her when she starts to fall, she’s wearing no vest, just the white shirt underneath. When George catches her a couple seconds later, she’s wearing the black vest.

∙ CAUTION: May Contain Spoilers! Lyle captures Ursula and they’re in a raft floating down the river. George is on his way to save her. When he steps onto the rocks overlooking the river (in the view looking up at him), the green vine he uses to swing on is hanging just a couple feet to his left. But, a couple moments later, Tookie loosens the vine and swings it to him.

“George of the Jungle” (1997) stars Brendan Fraser, Leslie Mann, Thomas Haden Church, Richard Roundtree, Greg Cruttwell, Abraham Benrubi, Holland Taylor and the voice of John Cleese. It runs 92 minutes and is rated PG for crude humor and mild violence, language and sensuality.
