An internal survey conducted by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) indicates that 66% of FDA scientists lacked confidence that the agency adquately monitors the safety of prescription drugs that are already on the market.
I suggest all of you reading this article go to a site that monitors Prescription Drug Warnings and read for yourself (http://www.drug-warnings.com). Prescription drugs and dietary supplements have been linked to serious heald problems, and all of us need to sit up ant take notice of this and keep track of what we are doing and what drugs we are taking. Some drugs thought to be lifesaving have proven to have dangerous side-effects and have resulted in PERMANENT damage and death!
Here are some of them: Accutane®, Avandia®, Baycol®, Ceoxx®, Crestor®, Ephedra, FenPhen®, Neurontin®, OxyContin®, Paxil®, PPA, Rezulin®, Serzone®, Serevent®, Vioxx®, and Zyprexa®.
I know you all watch TV at one time or another and you will see a barrage of commercials with all kinds of medications. Do yourself and your health a favor and LISTEN to the side effects. Some of the side effects are almost beyond belief. I cannot believe that the FDA or someone does not take a closer look at these drugs and enact legislation requiring warnings on them. All of them need to be monitored and safety warnings issued.
I will start a new series of articles on drug warnings this week and will pinpoint some sites you can go to to check out medications, to make sure they are safe. And the way things have been coming down lately, it does not matter how good something may be.
I told my wife I was not surprised when I heard that Viagra may be causing blindness. Day after day, week after week, I get the same old scam mail from idiots who have nothing better to do than sit at their computer and try to suck some innocent people into their little mud puddle of TRASH, telling me how good Viagra is. And you know, they must actually think and believe that some idiot out there can improve on God's perfection!
The bottom line is that if you are on medication, regardless of what it is, go check with your physician and maybe even get a second opinion, to make sure what you are taking is what it should be and is the only option for you. There might be something better. I take very few pills and I have found ways to get around taking medication. There are also ways to get around arthritis, cancer or whatever ails you and my series of articles on how to feel better, be better, and have more fun will tell you what they are. There are a lot of people taking medications that they do not need because they have been led to believe that it is the only way they can survive. I will tell you about that, also, and how you can grab a lifeline to get out of the pool you have been dragged into.
Bottom line: be careful what medication you take and if you do take medication, make sure what you are taking is not only the right medication for you, but is SAFE and will not have any harmful effects. And if you see something advertised on television that says it is the way out for you--check it out first, because the pasture on the fence on the other side in the case of drugs is usually not greener!
