Depression Era Recipes Cookbook

Depression Era Recipes by Patricia Wagner is a wonderful collection of recipes written by the women who learned to adapt and cope with the depression. Not only does it provide tasty recipes like grandma used to make but you'll find interesting tidbits of information on how things went back in those days, historical trivia and I love the illustrations from back then.

The book itself is a colorful laminated soft cover with a sturdy spiral binding so that it will lay open while preparing recipes. It is divided into several sections and each section starts with an advertisement from those days about foods.

The sections (or chapters) are as follows:

Breakfasts
Beverages
Soups
Meats - Beef, Pork, Lamb & Game
Poultry & Fish
Vegetables
Salads & Salad Dressings
Breads & Biscuits
Pies, Cakes & Pastries
Cookies, Desserts & Puddings
Miscellaneous Recipes
Household Hints & Measurements

Some of the delicious recipes you'll find in this cookbook include: Stuffed Tomato Salad, Shirred Eggs, Dandelion Wine, Goulash, Amber Soup, Mom's Rhubarb Pie, Veal Collops, French Pancakes, Lamb with Macaroni, Mocha Frosting, Frizzled Oysters, Aunt Dodie's Eggless Cake, Meatballs, Scrapple, Best Ever Lemonade, Homestead Breakfast, Cottage Pudding, Blackberry Cordial, Pickled Fish, and so many more!

I love the Miscellaneous Recipes section! It contains so many interesting recipes for things such as Hard Soap, Recipe for Chronic Cough, Milk cleanser, Wrinkle Cream, Ant Poison, Sachets, Hair Setting Lotion, Fragrant Rose Jar and more! How cool!

This is another wonderful treasure of a cookbook and I would definitely recommend it for all cooks! If you like this cookbook you can call 1-800-546-2255 or go to the site at www.mileskimball.com and see all they have to offer. This cookbook is found in the cookbook section. Click HERE for this particular cookbook. You'll find Miles Kimball is a wonderful company that offers products for Kitchen, Home, Desktop & Office, Gifts & Collectibles, Apparel & Personal Care, Outdoor & Pets, Travel & Leisure, Kids Korner, Christmas, Christmas Cards and Other Holidays.
