As an independent contractor, you don’t have to create the product, manufacture it, establish the price structure, design the marketing strategy and materials or handle the distribution. That’s all done by the company you’re working with. This allows you to focus your time, energy and creativity on doing the “people work,” which is much more fun and profitable.
When choosing who to partner up with, it’s wise to pick an established company with a solid reputation, marketable products or services and good growth potential. The company should also offer more than enough ongoing training and support, so you’re not trying to build your business all alone. It’s great to be in business for yourself, but not by yourself.
